Today we took a hike down to Natural Bridges. We had heard that there were caves you could swim through. Amazing! It was a steep, rocky downhill hike, but worth every step. This is the entrance to the first cave we found.

We talked to some people here, who told us that we had missed the trail turn-off to the main cave. This one was the one you go to if you want to scramble over slick rocks and even steeper trails... But we were here, so I switched to my swimming suit and headed in (carrying my underwater camera).

It was very beautiful and peaceful--and I had it to myself for quite a while.

You can eventually go out the other end. The water here is fairly shallow--never much over my waist.

We retraced our steps back to the place where we had missed the trail. Here there is an easy, very short trail down to the main cave. This would have been a much easier hike!! This picture was taken from inside the cave, looking back toward the entrance. The water here was a lot deeper.

I was glad I had a waterproof camera in here, because water was streaming down from the ceiling everywhere. I'm guessing it is even wetter in the spring.

It was very beautiful in here--but also very wet. It was like it was raining indoors just about everywhere in the cave.

Gorgeous formations hanging down everywhere. They looked like upside down flower buds.

Time to leave. This is the entrance. Hard to see from here how beautiful it will be inside. We dreaded the steep uphill hike from here--but it only took us 30 minutes. However we were very tired by the time we got back to the car. A fun adventure--and we will be back!!
