Snorkeling in Hawaii in 2010
This one is apparently another phase (or maybe female) of the PSYCHEDELIC WRASSE. I also saw several very little ones colored like this one near this larger fish. Note the "eyelashes"!

RINGTAIL SURGEONFISH: I didn't see very many of this fish--didn't photograph it until my last trip out snorkeling. The white ring on its tail is very bright. Hawaiian name is "pualu".

I got very distracted looking at the beautiful coral when we snorkeled in the tidepools in Puna. It was deeper and difficult to photograph the many fish--but the coral was really gorgeous to look at. Note the raccoon butterflyfish, swimming high in the water, as they always seem to do.

More beautiful coral at Puna. I have no idea what the fish are--I'm not close enough here to figure them out!

TURTLE: I have never been to Kahalu'u Beach and not seen turtles. They seem oblivious to the hoards of people who are snorkeling there--although this one was off to the side, trying to get a little peace and quiet, before I showed up and started taking his picture...

TURTLE: This turtle was at the bottom of Champagne Pond--the most delightful place you can imagine. It is inside a gated community (we walked past the gate on a path from where we were staying). The water is like a bathtub--but still has fish and turtles.
